The hammer screamed “death” as it pounded in the nails
While angry voices shouted for blood without fail.
Tears poured down the faces of those in the distance
While the soldiers laughed and scorned pure innocence.
He cried to His Father, but was all alone.
His blood streamed down the weathered cross
Covering the sin and stain of the wandering lost.
The curtain ripped from heaven to earth below
There are no barriers–God can be known!
He slept alone in the blackened ground.
Two days passed with sorrow and without a sound
But the third day showed Jesus could not be bound.
The angel said, “He is alive! He is not here!
Dear child, there is no need for trembling and fear.”
Jesus lives today and you are not alone.
